Fly Fish Charleston, SC With Local Full-time Guides

Charleston Fly Fishing Guides is a co-op between Lowcountry fly fishing guides Capt. Nicholas Boyd, and Capt. Caleb Andrews, both of whom share the same passion for fly fishing the South Carolina Lowcountry as well as the desire to provide their anglers with the most authentic Lowcountry fly fishing experiences possible.

These days, anglers in the know are well aware of the fly fishery that surrounds Charleston. It is no loner a secret that the fly fishing here is world class. Pair a fishery of this caliber with close proximity to a city as vibrant as Charleston, SC and it creates a fly fishing destination that offers just about everything any traveling angler might want. Charleston is simply a great place to come for a dedicated fly fishing trip as well as an easy place to slip away for a quick day on the water while in town for more than just a fishing trip.

Fly fishing Charleston is a hunt, and the preferred method is sight fishing. While poling quietly across shallow water, angler and guide look and listen for signs of fish activity. Once fish are located, it’s up to the angler to make a shot. Success is in the details and the more control the angler has over the presentation the better the chances for a bite are. When it all aligns, the experience is incredibly rewarding. Many saltwater fly anglers know that it’s not always about catching a bunch of fish but about the thrill of spotting, casting, and watching the moment unfold.

Charleston’s Lowcountry offers exceptional fly fishing experiences year-round, each season presenting unique opportunities and challenges for anglers of all skill levels. From summer redfish on the flats to chaotic fall albie blitzes, and the subtle beauty of winter redfish sight casting, Charleston is a truly unforgettable fishing destination and a place all fly anglers should visit.

Capt. Nicholas Boyd

Charleston Fly Fishing Guide

Capt. Nicholas Boyd is a Beaufort, SC native who was introduced to fishing early in life and grew up exploring the Lowcountry with family and friends. Over the years his passion for fishing grew into a passion for guiding. Nicholas truly enjoys taking others on Lowcountry adventures looking for the fish of a lifetime while creating lasting memories along the way.

Capt. Nicholas is a patient guide who enjoys taking anglers of all skill levels fly fishing the SC Lowcountry for redfish, tarpon, cobia, jack crevalle, tripletail, and albies. He appreciates the process of it all and gets as excited as his anglers do when they succeed (if not more).

His ideal day fly fishing Beaufort starts early with rolling tarpon, and finishes with a slick-calm bluebird afternoon and the perfect flood tide to find schools of redfish tailing in the grass.

Capt. Caleb Andrews

Charleston Fly Fishing Guide

Capt. Caleb Andrews is a Charleston, SC local, licensed USCG captain, and Eagle Scout with over 25 years of fly fishing experience. His passion for inshore saltwater fishing has led him down a path of hard work and dedication, unlocking angling secrets hidden within the Charleston Lowcountry and using them to create outdoor memories for his friends and clients. Capt. Caleb lives to sight fish with a fly rod, but is just as happy spending the day with someone just wanting to catch a few fish.

As a former professional engineer, he has always enjoyed the problem solving aspect that surrounds fishing. When he is out fishing, he uses his analytical background to most efficiently try and catch fish; ideally by sight fishing them with a fly rod.
